Abbeystead Shoot raises £20,000 for charity

The Abbeystead Shoot – Powered by Bentley was held on the Duke of Westminster’s Lancashire estate on May 7 and raised £20,000 for good causes.

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, which works with serving and retired soldiers and their families, was the main beneficiary of the ninth annual event while the star prize was a week's stay at the exclusive Royal Westmoreland estate in Barbados.

With Bentley Motors as the title sponsor, teams for four guns travelled from across the country to take part in the competition, which included the chance to shoot down a remote controlled aircraft and an auction of prizes ranging from diamond jewellery to gastronomic experiences at Northcote Manor.

The event has raised more than £250,000 since we began running it in 2008. This year it concluded with a brass quartet performance from the Band of the King’s Division while the 200 guests tucked into champagne and a four-course lunch.
